Spring football practice is underway and the Stoneman Douglas football team has lots of promise. Coach Willis May is pleased that many top players from previous years are coming back and will play key leadership roles during the fall season.
“We have 32 returning varsity lettermen,” said May. “We have 28 seniors coming back.”
Lamonte McDougle, a nearly 300 pound defensive tackle has 14 offers from division one universities. Corey Gaynor, an offensive lineman has 13 division one offers. Jack Frice, a 285 offensive lineman will play a leading role. Michael Dudley is another top lineman. Nick Weber is a top lineman. Tyler Goodman, will lead at quarterback. Last season, he passed for 1,100 yards. Daquan Bailey is highly regarded receiver.
The Stoneman Douglas team has a lot of good talent coming back. May believes the team could do well but he knows the Eagles will face strong competition during the season. The Eagles will face McArthur for its spring game on May 25.
