Kyle Ramos, was selected as Broward County JROTC Cadet of the Year. Ramos, a senior, is a Cadet Colonel in the Army JROTC program at Stoneman Douglas High School and has been involved in the JROTC program all four years. He was promoted to Colonel from the rank of Major upon being selected as Cadet of the Year.
Ramos has enjoyed his experience in the JROTC and credits the organization for helping to making him a better person. “My biggest accomplishment has been learning to be a better student, athlete, citizen and leader. The best part of JROTC is that it has taught me lessons no other class could teach me. All the hard work has paid off and I am glad to have been recognized for my efforts in the program,” said Ramos.
Ramos will attend the University of Central Florida and hopes to pursue career as an officer in the Coast Guard.
Retired Army Major Peter Mahmood is the senior Army instructor at Stoneman Douglas. “He has been a valuable senior in the program. He is a detailed planner and a great leader.”
