The City of Coral Springs Department will hire a sergeant who will focus on economic crimes, a rising problem in Coral Springs. Economic crimes have risen about 35 percent in Coral Springs, according to Police Chief Tony Pustizzi. There will four officers who will focus on economic crimes.
The tax rate for the upcoming fiscal year is $5.0938 per $1,000 of taxable value on properties. Last year it was 5.0915. While this is a small difference, many residents will see an increase because of increases in property values. The average increase in property values for homes and businesses was about six percent. This means Coral Springs will see an increase of $2.2 million in revenue. The City will spend more money on streets, improvements to parks and electronic vehicles. There will increases in sold waste assessments and fire assessments.
