Matthew Bianchi is the new principal at Westglades Middle in Parkland.
He is coming from Sawgrass Springs Middle School in Coral Springs where he served as assistant principal for eight years. Prior to that, he taught history and computers at Pioneer Middle School in Cooper City. He also taught at Raines High School in Jacksonville.
“I am excited about the challenge and I look forward to working with the community. I hope to continue the tradition of excellence that is in place at Westglades Middle School and increase student achievement. I want to make Westglades, the best middle school in Broward County,” said Bianchi.
He is already very proud of the school. “I think Westglades is an amazing school and an amazing community. There are some really great teachers here and good facilities. There are excellent programs and great traditions at this school. It is a matter of working with the community to see what they need and to continue to work with them and to address their areas of concern,” he said.
Bianchi wants to make sure that Westglades Middle School has a strong academic program and one that pushes students to high achievement. He also wants to have a wide variety of social activities for the students. He is impressed by the wide range of athletic, club and music programs offered by the school. “I want activities that will help each student grow as a person,” he said
Bianchi earned a BA in History from the University of Florida in History with a minor in Education. He earned a Master’s in Secondary Education from the University of Florida and a certificate of education leadership at Florida Atlantic University.
