The Parkland Intermediate Little League team, after winning the State title and the Southeast United States regional championship, will depart Parkland City Hall tomorrow at 3:00pm for Livermore, California where they will play for the Intermediate Little League World Series.
The team, comprised of 13 players ages 13 and 14, has gone undefeated through district play in Coral Springs, section play, the State tournament, and through the Southeast regional tournament. In the Little League World Series they will compete against five other Regional champions from the United States and champions from Africa, Asia, Canada, Europe, Latin America, and Puerto Rico. The Series championship game is scheduled to be aired by ESPN on August 7th.
An outpouring of support has been given to Parkland Little League as a result of their hard work and success—including tweets from Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo. Rizzo, a Parkland resident, attended Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland where many of the Parkland Little League players will be freshmen next year.
