On Tuesday, July 26th, at 11:16 p.m., Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to 1000 S. Ocean Boulevard in reference to a drowning. Upon arrival, paramedics found a male in his 52 s at the beach, on shore, unconscious. Paramedics provided CPR to the man who was in cardiac arrest. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported the patient to Holy Cross Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

 A friend of the drowning victim told paramedics they were diving off the beach when the victim advised him he was in trouble. The friend said he carried him from where he was, in approximately 10 feet of water, to shore where he started CPR.
