The City of Parkland (City) will have a second qualifying period for the District 2 City Commission seat due to one of the candidates withdrawing from the race.  John Willis withdrew his candidacy Monday and the City is required by its Code of Ordinances to re-open the qualifying for the District 2 seat.
The new qualifying period for the District 2 City Commission seat will be:
Noon Friday, August 5th until noon Wednesday, August 10th
The District 2 seat will be open in November due to Commissioner Christine Hunschofsky resigning to run for Mayor and the candidate will be elected to complete the term which expires in 2018.  The original qualifying period for the District 2 seat was noon Monday, July 11th until noon Friday, July 15th.
