Going through rehabilitation can be difficult for even the strongest people.

To encourage those who are facing the challenges of rehabilitation at the Memorial Rehabilitation Institute in Hollywood, an Olympic-themed motivational event was held. Each patient who participated carried a flag of their country on their wheelchair and was part of a parade at the Institute. It like the Olympic opening ceremony. Each patient moved down a hallway with cheering staff and carried the flag of their home nation. Many of the patients there are from other countries.

“Our patients are like athletes. They go through trials and failures before they achieve success,” said Denise Maillet, the director of quality and patient safety at the Memorial Rehabilitation Institute. “The patients are often here for weeks and it can be hard. We want them to have fun.”
