Summer break comes to an end for nearly 270,000 students preparing to head back to class on Monday, August 22, 2016, the first day of the 2016/17 school year for Broward County Public Schools (BCPS).

As teachers and school leaders prepare for the launch of the new school year, the District’s Transportation Department, which operates one of the largest school bus fleets in the country with 1,248 buses, is ready to provide service to 73,000 student passengers each day on 998 routes. All buses are equipped with GPS technology to track locations and report any emergencies.
