Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. partnered for Political Candidates Forum.
Chi Psi Omega Chapter(Coral Springs) , Kappa Kappa Omega Chapter (Pompano Beach) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, partnered with the Pompano Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated to host The Connect & Elect Political Candidates Forum at the E. Pat Larkins Center, Tuesday, August 16th from 5:00PM until 9:30PM. The forum, moderated by Hot105’s Rodney Baltimore, began with a meet and greet reception catered by McMillon’s Bar-B-Que . Approximately 300 people were in attendance .
The League of Women Voters, educated the public on the proposed five constitutional amendments for the general election and Amendment #4 that will be on the ballot for the August 30th Primary. The League encouraged the audience to vote absentee, early or on the primary election day.
The forum focused on majority of the upcoming primary races: State Senate and Representative races, Supervisor of Elections, Broward Clerk of Court, Broward State Attorney, County Commission, Broward Sheriff, Circuit Court Judicial and County Court races.
With input from the community, candidates in all the races were fielded questions prepared by the Dione Y. Trawick Esq, Rachelle Saint Louis, Andrea Knowles and Alana Dasent Esq.
The mission of the three sororities was to hold a candidates’ forum to educate the community on the political issues was successful. Members of the community were urged to get out and vote; early, absentee or on primary election day.
