Governor Rick Scott spoke with the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) to get an update on potential storm impacts. FDEM is continuing to actively monitor a developing storm system as it approaches the Florida Straits, and is urging everyone in Florida to remain vigilant as it moves toward the Gulf of Mexico. FDEM has not elevated the activation level of the State Emergency Operations Center, or activated the State Emergency Response Team but stands ready. South Florida and the Keys will likely see an increasing threat for heavy rainfall and rip currents this weekend.
Governor Scott said, “We are continuing to closely monitor the storm’s development and its potential impacts to Florida. We know that heavy rainfall is expected to begin across South Florida during the early hours tomorrow morning and may last for the next several days.
