October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and there will be many interesting and fun activities to raise money to help people receive treatment for this disease. Broward Health Coral Springs will host some events that will raise money for the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund. This fund helps needy women obtain free mammograms and breast treatments.

The Mad Hatter’s Tea will take place on October 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Those who come should wear a creatively decorated “pink” hat for contest judging and some fun. This community event will include refreshments, educational booths, music, raffles, prizes, chair massage and the chance to socialize. The event will be held at the Broward Health Coral Springs Museum of Art at 2855 Coral Springs Drive.

The Fitness for Breast Cancers Survivors will take place every Monday at 11:30 a.m. This is a free class which is open to cancer survivors to increase freedom of movement after breast surgery. It focuses on recovering energy and strength diminished by lifesaving breast cancer treatments. This program focuses on increasing range of motion, flexibility and lymphatic flow with a total body workout that pays special attention to the upper body. It is held at the Broward Health Coral Springs Medical Office Complex at 3100 Coral Hills Drive.
