Chi Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated of Coral Springs recently supported one of two fundraising efforts of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of Broward County to find a cure for the chronic and debilitating disease affecting many African-Americans. The chapter includes a line-item budget amount of $500 and presents this annually at the organization’s banquet. Additionally, chapter members enhanced their fundraising efforts through the purchase of tickets to the banquet, garnered donations, as well as placed ads and patrons in the souvenir booklet.

A special highlight of this event was the honoring of one of the chapter’s members, Luwando Wright-Hines. Ms. Wright-Hines was honored and recognized with a plaque for her outstanding service to Sickle Cell of Broward and to the community. Most importantly, the chapter was recognized with a plaque as a platinum sponsor.
