Many Broward elected leaders want voters to approve an additional penny sales tax. This tax would be in effect for 30 years. One half of the penny sales tax would go for city infrastructure improvements and one half would go to improve the county transportation system. Broward County would spend some of the tax money on new bus routes, better service on current bus routes and improvements to roadways for bicycle riders and pedestrians. There would also be a light rail system. In Coral Springs, city officials may put the money toward a new stadium at J.P. Taravella High School and an auditorium at Coral Glades High School.
