Governor Rick Scott announced today that Fort Lauderdale businesses created 34,000 new private-sector jobs over the year in September. The unemployment rate in Fort Lauderdale was 4.6 percent in September, declining by 0.3 percentage point in the last year. Florida businesses created 17,900 private-sector jobs across the state during September 2016, bringing the total number of jobs created since December 2010 to 1,222,500 jobs. Governor Scott made the announcement at the ribbon cutting ceremony for Uniform Advantage’s new headquarter office in Fort Lauderdale. The company designs and manufactures scrubs for hospitals, dental clinics and veterinary offices and employs more than 260 Floridians.
