Chi Psi Onega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated partnered with the city of North Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department for its annual holiday giving; providing non-perishable items to Ronald McDonald House Charity of Fort Lauderdale. The two organizations adopt this charity annually as a way of giving back to the community. This giving is immeasurable!. Through Ronald McDonald House’s “Give A Hand” initiative, the charity provides a home away from home for families whose sick children need medical treatment in nearby medical facilities. Replenishing of non-perishables allows the House to remain stocked and families to have prepared meals as needed.
Chi Psi Omega provided more than 350 can goods and 47 items that included, boxes of cereal, dried fruits/vegetables, boxes of macaroni/ pasta and bags of rice.
This chapter project was facilitated through International AKA Program Target III: Family Strengthening(Childhood Hunger), Target II: Health and Wellness(Heart Healthy Foods), Target IV: Environmental Ownership(Environmental Awareness), Target I: ASCEND and Target IV: Global Impact.
