The Coral Springs Police Department is proud to announce that Deputy Chief Shawn Backer, a 21 year veteran of CSPD, was one of 222 law enforcement officers to graduate from the prestigious FBI National Academy Program held at Quantico, Virginia on December 16, 2016. The program is for executive-level law enforcement personnel from the U.S. and other nations, who look to raise law enforcement standards and enhance their credentials in the field.
As a graduate of the 266th Session of the National Academy, Deputy Chief Backer received 11 weeks of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training from criminal justice and military professionals. Of his training, Deputy Chief Backer says, “To be selected and complete the FBI National Academy was an honor and has been one highlights of my career. I look forward to utilizing what I have learned through the program’s course-study and networking to better serve the Coral Springs community.”
Since its inception, at total of 49,686 law enforcement professionals have graduated from the program. Those selected for this prestigious program represent less than 1% of the law enforcement profession.
