Christianne Weiner, age 53, was recently killed in a car crash at the intersection of West Sample Road and Northwest 101 Avenue. Weiner was a fourth grade teacher at Coral Springs Elementary School and a resident of Parkland.

She was driving a Mercedes-Benz when it was hit by a Toyota Corolla driven by Eric Abraham, age 17, of Fort Lauderdale. He ran a red light on West Sample Road and collided with Weiner who had the green light. Her 11 year old son was in the car. Abraham has been charged with vehicular homicide. Tyree Goodwin, age 18, a passenger in the car was charged with suspicion of grand theft automobile. Abraham and three passengers in the Corolla were injured in the crash.

The Corolla was stolen from a location in Miami Gardens. A license plate reader alerted Coral Springs Police that the Corolla was stolen. When Abraham realized he was being followed by a Coral Springs Police car, he sped up and ran the stop light.

Weiner’s students and colleagues will be offered grief counseling when school resumes on January 9.
