Emirates Airlines has begun nonstop service from Broward’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to Dubai, marking a new chapter in international air travel between Broward County and the Middle East. County and tourism officials and a host of dignitaries welcomed the Emirates Boeing 777 on Thursday, December 15th. It was also the first time a 777 airplane has landed at FLL. The airport’s central location, its “easy in, easy out” reputation, and a current partnership between Emirates and JetBlue Airways, made FLL attractive to Emirates. FLL is the second airport in Florida to have nonstop service to the Middle East. The Dubai to Fort Lauderdale flight takes 15 hours.
