People got together in Pompano Beach to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. They marched in a parade and some participated in a ceremony following the parade.
Rep. Patricia Hawkins-Williams said, “I stand tall on my ancestor’s shoulders. Dr. Martin Luther King led marchers and they faced fire hoses and police dogs. We need to honor and remember Dr. Martin Luther King.
Pompano Beach Commissioner Beverly Perkins said, Dr. Martin Luther King went to jail for us. We need to keep the dream alive,” she said.
Pompano Beach Mayor Lamar Fisher said, “We celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King today. He worked to achieve a great deal and did it peacefully,” said Fisher.
Thousands of people participated in the parade. It nice and pleasant event. Some of the older participants, remember the struggles that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the people he led during the Civil Rights movement.
