People got together at Pompano Beach Community Park to enjoy Unity in the Community. The annual event brought about 4,000 people together to enjoy food from area restaurants, musical entertainment and dance performances.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office put on demonstrations and allowed people to see one its helicopters. There were bounce houses and fun activities for children. About 80 businesses, civic groups and faith groups set up booths and had the opportunity to meet with area residents. It was an opportunity for people to socialize.

“This was a great opportunity for people to get to know their neighbors,” said Carolyn Mann, president of Unity in the Community. “There was free food and drink and plenty of entertainment. We have activities for the children. This event allows us to celebrate diversity.”
