Chi Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated partnered with Mayor Jack Brady, city commissioners, fire chief and city staff of North Lauderdale to wear red in celebration of National Wear Red Day, “Go Red for Women”, Friday, February 3, 2017.

The local chapter members, through Target II: Health and Wellness, recognize that the #1 killer of women is heart disease.  Therefore, through partnerships, they set aside time to focus on awareness and  influence as well as inspire women to make life-saving changes. A Zumba class will also be held to raise awareness.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has dubbed the first Friday in February, annually, as “Pink Goes Red for a Day”; commemorating the occasion.  It is the sorority’s Second Service Impact Day, set aside by its international program committee.

Most importantly, in support of “Wear Red Giving Day”, the chapter set up, join “Team Chi Psi Omega”, a link for donations.  Fully supported is the American Heart Association; “Life is Why”.

Chapter members in attendance for the celebration with North Lauderdale were Ernestine Bobb, Ann Burnett (Lee), Revertha W. Grace, Michelle Green, Bernice Pearson, Veronica E. Phillips, Barbara J. Thomas and Luwando Wright-Hines.
