Coral Springs Police detectives have arrested and charged a suspect in the open homicide investigation of Michael Hamilton.

On October 19, 2016, Jason David Martinez, 28, a former Coral Springs resident, was arrested for the homicide of Michael Hamilton, after DNA evidence linked him to the crime. Martinez was located and arrested in Port Jefferson, New York and then extradited to Broward County on February 9, 2017.

In July of 2011, Michael Hamilton was brutally murdered in his home at 9893 Northwest 33rd Street in Coral Springs. The investigation into the murder has revealed that more than one person participated in the homicide and detectives are still actively investigating this case.

There is a substantial reward for any information that leads to the arrest of the other suspect or suspects involved in this case. Coral Springs detectives also want to speak to anyone who has had contact with or knew Jason Martinez prior to or after the murder.
