The City of Pompano Beach will be getting a new pier. City leaders hope to begin the $11,548,859 project in May and see it completed by January 2019. The existing Pompano Beach Fishing Pier, which has outlived its useful life will be completely demolished. A new pier which will be the same length will be built in the exact same location. The current pier is 16,000 square feet and the new pier will include 30,000 square feet.
“We will have shade structures to protect people from the sun,” said Horacio Danovich, capital improvements project manager for Pompano Beach. “The pier will have WiFi service, security cameras and underwater cameras so people can see what is happening under the water. There will be art work that is marine related at different locations.”
