Chi Psi Omega Chapter of AKA recently held, Saturday, April 8, 2017,

“Digitally Green”, an environmentally focused technology workshop designed for advancement, in the multipurpose room of the Tamarac Library.  Approximately 50 community participants prepared for new knowledge were in attendance.

This event was in collaboration with Deloitte and Touche (largest professional service network in the world by revenue and number of professionals), local chapter Targets I: ASCEND, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, International President Dr. Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson’s signature program; Target II: Health Promotion and Target III: Family Strengthening.

Dr. Natasha Hines, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) of Deloitte and Touche was the guest presenter. She serves technology companies and supervises teams across the globe that perform external information technology audits for public and private firms.

The timely workshop provided engaging general introductions to Microsoft 365, excel, power point, one drive, drop box, one note, snap champ and skype for business. Discussions included web browsers, how to create, share, edit, view,  and collaborate from anywhere.  The totally paperless workshop was designed to show the computer as the environmentally friendly tool replacing everything paper at your home or employment.

Target II: Health Promotion provided a mini power point and display in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month.

Evaluations completed by the participants and chapter members evidenced the environmentally focused, technologically engaging and collaborative event workshop was a huge success. Participants enjoyed door prizes and a healthy snack.

Visiting AKA member, Gwendolyn Spencer was in attendance.  Dr. Natasha Hinds, workshop presenter, is also a member of AKA Sorority, Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter. Kamea Humes of ASCEND was also in attendance assisting with registration and door prizes.
