The City of Pompano Beach held a huge dedication party on the evening of May 11.
The City was celebrating the dedication of the Pompano Beach Cultural Center and Broward County Library. A large number of people packed the outdoor area of the Center. Former Pompano Beach commissioners and community leaders many of whom had fought tirelessly to make the Center a reality were present.
The Cultural Center is two stories and includes about 47,000 square feet and cost about $19 million to build. The Cultural Center includes a theater which offers 5,000 square feet of flexible space. It has 400 seat retractable fixed seating, 250 cabaret type seating and an area for receptions. There is a portable stage which allows for various configurations which could include theater in the round or no stage. There are sprung floors for dance classes and performances.
There is an art gallery with 750 square feet of exhibition space. Exhibitions will include both international and regional artists. The multi-media digital center will provide state of the art equipment, audio and video recording studio, TV station with green screen, webcasting and live streaming and distance and lifelong learning.
