The Coral Springs Police Department detained one J.P. Taravella High School student after a replica gun was found. J.P. Taravella High School was placed on lockdown and the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Coral Springs Police were called. The BSO patrolled the outside of the school while Coral Springs Police officers searched the inside of the school. Students from J.P. Taravella High School were boarding buses for a trip to the Coral Springs Gymnasium when a threat involved a gun was received. About 100 parents came to the school. No one was injured or hurt during the incident although people were very concerned.
