Jim Jobson had a great time at the Summer Slam Extreme Kayak Fishing Tournament held off Pompano Beach. He caught two large Kingfish and won first place in the tournament. He won a $5,000 prize.

“I had a blast. Both fish fought hard. When you are fishing from a kayak have to do everything. There was a lot wind and rain. It felt good to catch the fish,” he said.

This was the first part of the Summer Slam Series. There were 114 participants. The next one will take place on August 12 also on Pompano Beach. “We are the largest off shore kayak fishing tournament in the world,” said Maria Hector, who runs the tournament. “This brings kayak fishermen together from around the world.”

Ahmad Vazquez won the tuna division. “I love being a part of this tournament. It is a good hobby and something I like to do,” he said.
