On July 7, 2017, the Coral Springs Police Department Traffic Unit received recognition for its efforts at the 2017 Law Enforcement Liaison Awards Ceremony, held in Orlando, Florida. The Traffic Unit was invited to the Florida Department of Transportation sponsored ceremony, along with several other law enforcement agencies throughout the State of Florida. The criterion for recognition was a 12-month comparison of education and enforcement actions, along with traffic crash data, with other law enforcement agencies from the state. The City of Coral Springs was recognized in the statewide comparison, receiving 1ST place overall after being placed in a Champion’s Class Category. This is the third year in a row that the Coral Springs Police Department Traffic Unit has been recognized, and placed 1st during 2016’s Awards Ceremony, out of 46 similar-sized agencies (based on staffing). Through education and enforcement the Coral Springs Police Department is continually committed to the safety of its citizens and will continue to encourage safety through programs currently sponsored by the City of Coral Springs and the Florida Department of Transportation.
