Texting while driving is considered a dangerous thing to do. But it is not a primary driving offense in Florida. Florida Representative Emily Slosberg has introduced a bill to making texting while driving a primary driving offense. This would mean that if an officer sees a person texting while driving the officer could stop the driver and issue a ticket. Slosberg has been fighting for this law. Her sister died in an automobile accident. But the Florida Legislature has not made texting while driving a primary offense. Right now, an officer cannot issue a citation for texting while driving unless another offense has been committed such as speeding
